PAY RANGE: Mines is offering an academic year salary of $60,000 - $78,000

THE OPPORTUNITY:
The Arthur Lakes Library of the Colorado School of Mines invites applications for the position of Electronic Resources Librarian. We are seeking creative, collaborative, passionate, and innovative candidates to provide leadership in the area of electronic resources. Working in a highly collaborative, small-team environment, the candidate’s leadership responsibilities will intersect with many of the Library’s key strategic initiatives. The Electronic Resources Librarian oversees the lifecycle of the Library's electronic resources, including acquisition, licensing, access, administration, maintenance, and support. This position is part of the Collection Management Services section, working in coordination with the Head of Collection Management Services and reporting directly to the University Librarian. As an academic faculty position, additional responsibilities include engagement in scholarship, involvement in professional development activities, and service to the institution and the library profession.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Electronic Resources Librarian supports and advances the mission of the Library and the Colorado School of Mines through a variety of methods, such as:
Coordinating the management of the Library’s owned, licensed, and subscribed electronic content. Including evaluation, licensing, purchasing, ordering, access provision, maintenance, link resolution, discovery, renewal, and troubleshooting.
Developing and managing electronic resources workflows and maintenance in the Library Management System (Alma).
Reviewing and negotiating contracts and licenses for electronic resources in coordination with internal and external constituents
Loading and coordinating the maintenance of bibliographic records for electronic resources.
Monitoring and troubleshooting service tickets for electronic resources. Providing support to Library staff and end-users as appropriate.
Collaborating closely with Library staff to identify and select electronic resources.
Fostering a collaborative, inter-departmental approach to problem-solving and decision making.
Working closely with vendors to address access issues, configure usage statistics, and stay current on new technologies, services, and publishing models.
Staying informed of emerging issues, standards, and technologies in the management of licensed electronic resources and the Library’s management and discovery systems.
Developing knowledge of the Library’s existing electronic collections.
Working collaboratively with the Head of Collection Management Services to develop metrics to facilitate evidence-based decision making.
Maintaining usage statistics and producing reports for electronic resources.
Documenting electronic collection analysis processes.
Providing recommendations to the Head of Collections Management Services on the continued relevance of the Library’s electronic collections.
The successful candidate will also participate as an active member of the library faculty, serving on Library and University committees. As a non-tenure-track academic library faculty member with the opportunity for promotion in rank, they will engage in scholarly research that advances library and information science and interact with the professional community on a regional, state, national and/or international level, both formally and informally.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience:
Master’s degree in library science from an American Library Association accredited school, or equivalent
Direct experience managing electronic resources in a library environment.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Working knowledge of library management systems and electronic resource management systems.
Demonstrated ability to learn new technologies independently and to adapt quickly to changing technology environments.
Ability to use analytical skills to solve complex problems.
Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively in a complex environment.
Effective oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
