[Eril-l] alias for e-resource email address

Jennifer,

For security reasons, having several people using one email account isn't a
good idea. We're not allowed to do it.

We use eresources at xxx.edu as an email distribution alias instead. (Emails
go into the inboxes of the appropriate team members.)

We've had a few challenges:

   1. Keeping track of who receives the alias emails (the people keep
   changing)
   2. Vendors who insist on getting replies from the email alias and not
   individuals
   3. There is no central archive for messages received by the alias,
unless you send them on to some sort of ticketing system.

We've experimented with both Numara Footprints (campus-wide) and
LibAnswers (in house).

If your IT department uses a ticketing system, you might want to ask them
set up an area for your library tickets. Matching up library language and
IT help desk ticketing language can be a challenge, but you may need to do
it for the functionality you need.

I know that some others have experimented with free services like Asana
<https://asana.com/pricing>. It allows you to create a team with up to 15
people. (Again, you should probably still ask your IT folks since you are
moving around sensitive information.)

Wishing you the best - this is one of those projects that ends up being
more complicated that you expect!
