I should not see “paywall” in the address bar!  And I do not see proxy.cornell.edu  despite working from off campus.
I got around the paywall by clicking on “log in via your institution” bar (not shown below).

Still room for improvement and now I have 3 problem reports from faculty and reference staff:  “Oxford University Press have instituted a completely new interface for the Oxford English Dictionary—hitherto a very useful tool. The new interface seems to be an exercise in dumbing way down, but that is not my immediate complaint, which is that in order to get "tabbed view", which gives access to a slightly less dumbed-down interface, you have to create a personal account (i.e., with the OED). This involves a pretty standard form: name, email, password, password confirmation, who are you ("academic"). In spite of its being standard, it does not work for me. I have tried repeatedly. The passwords I have proposed have not been objected to ("needs a special character")—the form just bounces back with "some of the fields—in red—were incomplete"—they weren't. It would be nice if I could access the OED.”

As I had shared with you last week, we have been working to resolve an issue where some users have experienced dropped authentication when opening a second tab in the OED via EZProxy. We believe we now have a solution to this issue which will go live on Wednesday, 16th August at approximately 9 a.m. BST (4 a.m. EDT, 1 a.m. PDT).  Once this fix is in place, we recommend that all customers replace their stanza as soon as possible. The new stanza will be posted by OCLC late on Tuesday, 15th August. Please note customers using OCLC’s IncludeFile will have their stanza updated automatically.

I’m happy to give an update from OUP.  Our team is actively and urgently addressing this issue with loss of access via EZProxy after opening a second tab in a session. The issue is a complex one with some compounding factors so the problem is not appearing for all customers. We are making progress and will continue to consult with OCLC as we are investigating and testing. I am happy to post to the listserv when this is resolved including any further instructions or revised stanzas if necessary. (Thus far that has not been the case.)

We're having the same issue at Ohio Wesleyan University. I do one search, no problem but no proxy retained in the URL. I click on the OED logo to start over, and we no longer have access to the tabbed content.

We have the current stanza for OED but are still encountering the same issue. The first time we access the new site in a browser session, the url doesn't contain our proxy url but we're able to search and view all of the tabs for a word. The second time in the same browser session the url contains our proxy but we can't view the tabs for a word.

We have an open ticket with Oxford and I'm wondering if anyone is currently having this issue.

It's usually the other way around - the proxy.library.cornell.edu<http://proxy.library.cornell.edu> lets the content provider know I'm coming from Cornell and that we have a subscription.

Hi All

If you haven't already, please file a case with Oxford letting them know if you are not able to access the site when off campus and using various authentication methods such as EZProxy.  I did this yesterday and received a reply that their support team is working on a solution.

You may be able to access the new platform off campus the first time you try but if you try again and again, you may find that you hit a paywall and aren't able to access all features.

We appear to have full access, BUT I find it really confusing that at the very center of the landing page is the following:

Because I know that we have a subscription, I just went ahead and tried out a word etc and proceeded, but I think this will throw most users.
Are others also seeing this right splat in the middle of the Webpage?
OUP: Can this be made NOT to show when one already has an active/current subscription?

Cornell University Library has partial access to the new platform.  Right now, the word search works fine, but clicking on the other tabs (meaning, etymology, pronunciation, etc) points to a login screen.  Can I assume the lack of access is part of the 48-hour transition?
