Hi all,

The Collection and Discovery Services unit of the Smith College Libraries
is hiring for two positions: Cataloging Librarian and Electronic Resources
Librarian. We are looking forward to welcoming two new colleagues to our
team of nine people. We plan to begin reviewing applications in late
November. Further information is available below. Feel free to email me
with any questions.

Cataloging Librarian

The Cataloging Librarian serves as the Smith College Libraries’ local
expert in bibliographic cataloging, creating rich metadata to provide
timely access to the Smith collections. Reporting to the Metadata
Technologies Librarian, the Cataloging Librarian will work alongside
technical services colleagues as a member of the Collection and Discovery
Services team. This is an opportunity to work with a collaborative group of
professionals who are diligent in selecting, acquiring, describing and
providing access to library resources and materials. The Cataloging
Librarian will also work closely with the Josten Performing Arts Library
and Hillyer Art Library, either cataloging materials directly or advising
staff. Smith College is a member of the Five College Consortium and we have
recently moved to a shared catalog in the FOLIO integrated library system.
This person will work closely with peers at the other member campuses to
maintain this environment.

Smith seeks to pay competitively and equitably based on factors such as the
position and individual qualifications. While actual pay will vary based
on these factors, the estimated starting salary for this position is $55K -
$70K.

Electronic Resources Librarian

The Electronic Resources Librarian will manage the full lifecycle of
electronic resources including journals, journal packages and databases,
with a particular focus on individually purchased eBooks and eBook
packages. This is a new position, sitting within the Smith College
Libraries Collection and Discovery Services team and reporting to the
Electronic Resources & Discovery Librarian. The individual in this
position will work collaboratively with colleagues across departments on
ongoing work and discrete projects to ensure the libraries' online
resources are accessible to the campus community, and will engage with
eResource colleagues across the Five College Consortium around shared work
and priorities. They will engage a framework of diversity, equity,
inclusion and accessibility in the approach to daily and long-term work,
and in interactions with colleagues and library users. A hybrid
remote/on-site work schedule is available for this position.
