*Title*: Electronic Resources Librarian

>
> *Position Description*: The Kelvin Smith Library (KSL) of Case Western
Reserve University (CWRU) seeks a creative, collaborative individual to
serve as Electronic Resources Librarian.

*Objective: *As part of the Acquisitions & Metadata Services team at the
Kelvin Smith Library of CWRU, the Electronic Resources Librarian is
responsible for content management, licensing, and discovery for all the
library’s electronic serials and databases. The Electronic Resources
Librarian manages access to the library’s electronic resources using the
electronic resources management system, discovery service, ILS, link
resolver, authentication service, and A–Z database list, and works with
vendors to provide consistent, user-friendly access. The position will also
collaborate with other teams at KSL — particularly the Planning, Budgets, &
Assessment and Research & Engagement teams — in order to coordinate the
selection, acquisition, and evaluation of electronic resources.

*Essential Functions:*

   - Provide expertise in e-resources and apply best practices; apply
   advanced techniques, technologies, and good judgment in the field;
   collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including library
   vendors; Utilize a significant level of expertise within library science
   where contributions are recognized at both the library and university
   level; maintain knowledge about emerging library issues and trends and the
   role of the library; understand and articulate organizational positioning
   and strategic alignment (25%)
   - Facilitate selection, acquisition, licensing, and authentication of
   e-resources; Process renewals of print and electronic serials with EBSCO
   and other vendors (12%)
   - Work with Acquisitions & Metadata Services team colleagues to process
   and track payments for e-resources in ILS/ERM (Sierra) (7%)
   - Manage access to all e-resources using the library’s discovery service
   (EBSCO EDS), electronic resource management system (Sierra), link-resolver
   (EBSCO Full Text Finder), authentication service (OpenAthens), and
   databases A-Z list (Springshare) (24%)
   - Troubleshoot access issues (7%)
   - Analyze and evaluate use of e-resources, and develop usage reports
   (10%)
   - Contribute to the library, the institution, and the profession through
   scholarship, creative expression, and service at the state, regional, or
   national levels; Engage in professional development and participate on
   library, consortium, and university committees, teams, task forces, and
   special projects as deemed necessary or assigned (8%)
   - Contribute to and maintain a work culture of inclusion, diversity,
   equity and belonging (6%)
   - Perform other duties as assigned (1%)

*Contacts:*

   - Department: Regular contact with the Acquisitions & Metadata Services
   Team Leader to ensure excellent service. Moderate contact with staff on all
   levels of the organization to support the provision of library services.
   Occasional contact with managers and staff of other units in the library as
   required by projects.
   - University: Occasional contact with faculty and students. Consult
   occasionally with other campus librarians to coordinate information
   management decisions for the provision of library services. Consult with
   staff throughout the university to develop and implement programs for the
   delivery of services to students and faculty.
   - External: Participate in local, regional, and national organizations
   to maintain a network of informational professionals. Occasional
   collaboration with colleagues in OhioLINK and other academic libraries.
   Frequent contact with vendors to support the work of colleagues.
   - Students: Occasional communication with students to provide assistance
   and information resources to support their education and research needs.

*Qualifications* – *Experience:* 1–3 years of experience preferred; the
initial rank of the Electronic Resources Librarian will be based upon the
qualifications of the individual with regard to that person’s professional
knowledge, abilities, and skills; contributions to the profession through
service and scholarly endeavors; and professional qualities consistent with
university and library values.
*Education/Licensing:* A Master of Library & Information Science degree (or
equivalent)

*Skills:*

   1. Ability to make decisions in area of expertise; can collaborate and
   partner effectively; moderately expert in e-resources and able to apply
   best practices; can use advanced techniques and technology to innovate;
   ability to perform or administer slightly complex or specialized duties;
   communicate effectively
   2. Evidence of professional contribution, publishing, creative
   contributions, presentations and/or professional service at the state,
   regional, or national level; keeps abreast of the role and application of
   trends for libraries in higher education
   3. Experience working with an integrated library system, knowledge base,
   or other electronic resource management system
   4. Familiarity with best practices for library acquisitions, licensing,
   and managing electronic resources
   5. Demonstrate self-motivation and the ability to work creatively,
   independently, and collaboratively
   6. Demonstrate excellent analytical and problem-solving skills,
   computer/technological skills, and project management skills
   7. Ability to manage a variety of tasks and multiple priorities
   8. Demonstrate knowledge of the mission, vision, goals, and services of
   the library, and understand how to incorporate those within their own work
   9. Ability to meet consistent attendance
   10. Ability to interact with colleagues, supervisors and customers
   face-to-face
   11. Ability to work in, and contribute to, an environment of inclusion,
   diversity, equity, and belonging

*Supervisory Responsibility: *This position has no direct supervisory
responsibilities, but may supervise non-exempt staff, student employees,
and temporary full- or part-time workers.
