Ohio Valley Group of Technical Services Librarians 2022 Conference

Inspired to Bloom

Technical services can actively improve regular tasks and develop new activities, with such great success that the department will bloom! This can happen from a wide range of inspiration.



At the OVGTSL 2022 Conference, we want to hear how you have thrived and flourished and what motivates you to continue to bloom. Is there something you are planning to do after being inspired recently? Have you been successful in making a change after being inspired in the past? What are some ways we can find inspiration? Have you been able to grow and bloom while keeping your roots grounded? A lovely garden has a variety of flowers-what are the goals and successful ways to improve the diversity in your department and library collections? Are you focused on weeding or pollinating in order to bloom?



Topics of interest include but are not limited to

  *   Sources of inspiration
  *   DEI
  *   Collaboration across library units and beyond
  *   Tools and processes for large-scale editing of metadata (OpenRefine, MarcEdit, etc.)
  *   Primary resources and rare collections
  *   Electronic resources lifecycle management
  *   Efficient technical services workflows
  *   Keeping up with changes (LCSH revisions, name changes, etc.)
  *   Open access materials
  *   Staff recruiting and retention
  *   Department reorganization
  *   Collection assessment
  *   Print acquisitions management
  *   Preparing staff and systems for changes in metadata standards



The sessions will be held on May 12 & 13. Time slots for all presentation sessions are 50 minutes including time for questions from the audience. Submissions for panel discussions, lightning rounds, workshops and other formats will be considered in addition to standard presentations.



The conference will be hybrid so the audience can attend in person or virtually. The presenters will attend on-site at the Bloomington conference. The sessions will be recorded for registrants to access for two months after the conference.
