General Description

Delaware County Community College, a competency-based institution, committed to diversity is accepting applications for an Assistant Professor, Librarian in the Learning Commons area. The successful candidate will be appointed to a full-time, tenure-track, 10-month faculty position.

Faculty librarians at Delaware County Community College are responsible for providing reference and research instruction to students, faculty, and staff. Responsibilities include staffing library reference according to departmental needs; providing individual, group, and classroom instruction; and developing supporting instructional materials. Faculty librarians participate in collection development for assigned subject areas/departments. In addition, this librarian engages the College community in the use of open educational resources (OER) and specific OER initiatives on campus. This includes strategic planning, advocacy, outreach, and providing professional development opportunities related to open educational resources.

Duties
Primary responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

Reference: Provide reference and research instruction based on the staffing needs of the Learning Commons and Library Services. Instruct students, faculty, and staff in the general use of library materials in all available formats. Provide reference and research instruction in-person in the Learning Commons and virtually through chat and email. Create library-specific educational material including handouts, guides, and tutorials.

Instruction: Provide individual, group, and classroom information literacy and research instruction in all modalities, including course-integrated classes, online and in-person workshops, and other formats based on the staffing needs of the Learning Commons and Library Services. Create educational materials to support instructional activities.

Collection Development: Contribute to the collection development activities of the Learning Commons/Library Services. Work with assigned academic departments and other campus offices to identify, select, acquire, and ensure the availability of relevant and related materials. Set priorities for the assigned academic departments and other campus areas related to the Library's collection. Build and maintain the Library's collection in an evolving academic and scholarly environment.

Division Liaison: Liaise with faculty and administrators in an assigned academic division. Keep faculty apprised of changes to library resources and services that affect teaching and student learning. Collaborate with faculty to integrate information literacy into the curriculum. Solicit feedback on the division's need for library resources and services.

Open Educational Resources: Provide oversight, strategic planning, advocacy, outreach, and professional development opportunities related to the open educational resources initiatives at the College. This librarian will develop a strategic plan and advocate the use of open educational resources on campus. This advocacy will include fostering collaboration between the Learning Commons/Library Services and faculty across departments. Develop and maintain tools or resources to promote and increase awareness of OERs. Provide professional development opportunities for faculty and other members of the college community.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate must have:

Required Qualifications:
*         Master's degree in Library Science from an ALA-accredited institution.
*         Minimum two years of experience in an academic library setting providing reference and instructional services.
*         Ability to work with a diverse staff and community college constituency.
*         Service-oriented, positive attitude, and good communication and interpersonal skills.
*         Ability to work collaboratively as a member of a team.
*         Ability to work independently under minimal direct supervision.
*         Commitment to professional development.
Preferred Qualifications:
*         Familiarity with open licensing and open educational resources.
*         Knowledge and understanding of emerging trends in open pedagogy and the intersection with scholarly communication.
*         Knowledge of Creative Commons licensing to support the use, reuse, and remixing of OER content.
*         Knowledge of emerging technology trends related to student success, online learning, digital scholarship, and/or digital pedagogy.
*         Understanding and knowledge of issues related to textbook affordability.
Supplemental Information
A contractual minimum starting salary of $61,108. (with a Master's degree) for tenure-track faculty and a comprehensive and competitive fringe benefit package are provided.
