[Eril-l] EBSCOHost to journal platforms with off-campus access

Hi,

I’m wondering if anybody else has run into this?

We recently ran into an odd problem where EBSCOHost databases are not resolving to some journal platforms properly, off-campus. For example, a professor was trying to access a PsycINFO article from home; the link resolver took her to unproxied Wiley where it gave her a paywall/login version of the page. I verified this from home, and on campus using Tunnel Bear. The same article resolves to a non-paywall page when on-campus.

The article in question:

Horne, S., & Zimmer-Gembeck, M. J. (2006). The Female Sexual Subjectivity Inventory: Development and Validation of a Multidimensional Inventory for Late Adolescents and Emerging Adults. Psychology Of Women Quarterly, 30(2), 125-138. doi:10.1111/j.1471-6402.2006.00276.x

We are still using WAM proxy though we are getting ready to switch to EZProxy. (I checked, the WAM proxy IP address is still there for all involved systems). Our link resolver is 360Link.

Springer has also punked out off-campus from EBSCOHost, but Sage and ScienceDirect have not. Also I have replicated the problem via TunnelBear but our Systems Specialist did the same and got into the article. Very confusing

This is a recent development as far as I can tell. Also, Web of Science seems to be resolving fine. EBSCOHost tech support said it wasn’t their problem. I’ve lobbed it to 360Link and Wiley but I’m afraid we’ll be in the usual situation of “it’s the other guy’s problem”.

We aren’t yet ready to switch to EZProxy (which I assume will solve some problems while introducing others.)

If anybody else is running into this, please let me know.

Thanks,
