If you can find this line in config.txt, remove or comment it out:

Option NoHttpsHyphens

If not, you can manually add this line:
Option HttpsHyphens

This is assuming you installed a correctly configured wildcard certificate, as your IT people claimed…

Hope this helps.

Subject: [Eril-l] EZ Proxy: Connection Not Private Warning

Hi, everyone!

Hoping you and your collective brilliance can help me!

About 30+ of our databases, when accessed from off-campus via our EZ Proxy from our A-Z page<https://library.austincc.edu/eresources/AtoZ.php>, give a "connection not private" error message. These include titles from multiple vendors including: JSTOR, AccessScience, ProQuest's Historic New York Times, and more.

This problem has been ongoing for months, and it seems to have started when we added a SSL certificate to the server. The vendors are telling me that something is wrong with our EZ Proxy server's settings. Our IT department, which manages the EZ Proxy sever, says it's the databases/vendors problem. I can't seem to get an answer to what exactly is wrong from anyone.

I don't have direct access to the EZ Proxy server, nor do I have access to the stanza config file. When I need to update stanzas, I have to forward the suggested changes to an intermediary.

It's been incredibly frustrating trying to get this resolved because, understandably, our off-campus users often think 1. either our databases are down or 2. something bad will happen to their device when they see the "connection not private" warning message. Yes, they can push past the error to get to the database, but many choose not to.

We've added a message saying, "you might need to accept a security certificate to use this resource from off-campus," to our A-Z page, but this isn't a good long-term solution.

Have any of you encountered this sort of thing before w/ EZ Proxy? What solution (if any?) is there? I've attached a screenshot of the warning taken from the Chrome browser via my mobile device.

Any help you could give me would be GREATLY appreciated.

Best,

Adrian
