[Eril-l] problem with NYT.com group pass access

For the list archives and anyone currently interested, this problem with our "group pass" NYT.com access was resolved by following the steps below, which we've added to a relevant libguide for future reference.   Thanks to Jason Bernard at Brandeis International School of Business for suggesting this solution, and also the NYT educational representatives were pretty quick to follow up with useful assistance.

1. Navigate to accessnyt.com<http://accessnyt.com> (from on campus, because NYT has our IP addresses on file)

2. Search for / Select the name of your institution

You will be redirected to the NYT welcome page.

3. Click "Already have an account? Log in here"

4. Log in with existing NYT username (educational institution email) and password

Once completed, digital access will be restored and the user may navigate directly to nytimes.com<http://nytimes.com> from any web-enabled device (the person won't need to repeat this process for another year).

We've had a campus site-license to NYT.com for several years, and this is a new problem.  A long-time user tried to re-register for his annual group pass.  His login with his college credentials appears to work fine.  But he keeps getting challenged with a message that he has "exceeded his 5 free articles".   Those of us trying to trouble-shoot already have current individual accounts, so it's difficult to replicate.

I've written to our educational accounts contact at NYT.com, but in the meantime, anyone else having this problem or have any tips to solve it?
