[Eril-l] affiliate or contract users

Good Morning,

So, we are having a discussion here at UT Chattanooga regarding "affiliate users." Affiliate users on our campus are typically contractors or visiting scholars. We have audited our license agreement user terms to see what types of users are allowed and we found that in many cases the license is "silent" in the area of contractors or visiting etc... Some licenses, actually stipulate clearly who is allowed, and some specifically state that they aren't allowed. All resources except those requiring registration allow for on-campus walk up access.

We provide remote access via our EZproxy, and we are not using a group functionality at this point because our campus identity management system has not always gotten the group designations accurate, which caused us a lot of headache.

I'm interested in knowing how affiliate/contract/visiting etc... folks are handled on your campuses? Do you not allow any access, only walk up, full access etc...? Has this been an issue in other places? We want to be above board and talk with our academic heads about our decision, but I'd like to know what others are doing.

Thanks,
Katie
