*Content Strategist*
*Job Summary: *Reporting to the Senior Content and Information Strategist,
the Content Strategist Librarian coordinates the Library’s collection
assessment and development activities. He/she will coordinate the
selection, acquisition, maintenance and licensing of subscription based
resources in a collaborative and participatory environment. One of the
fundamental responsibilities is to assess curricular needs across the
college and support effective teaching and research with the best and most
cost-effective resources. The Content Strategist establishes and maintains
positive working relationships with publishers and vendors, manages the
lifecycle of print serials and electronic resources, and gathers
information associated with potential new products and trials. Reviews
licenses; negotiates terms and pricing; handles (or performs) the ordering,
payment, and activation processes (including proxy server and link
resolvers) and troubleshoots and resolves electronic resource problems. The
Content Strategist develops qualitative and quantitative methods of
analyzing and reporting the value and effectiveness of the Library’s
collection in support of student learning and the college’s curriculum, as
well as analyze and report on data regarding collection growth, usage,
material costs, expenditures, etc. to inform decisions, project budgetary
needs, and develop collection strategies. Will serve on Library committees,
task forces, and working groups that address long-term challenges and
opportunities as well as shorter-term operational issues for the libraries.
Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops
and professional affiliations and engages in other duties as assigned.
*Requirements:* Candidates must hold an ALA-accredited Masters degree in
library or information science, or an equivalent combination of relevant
advanced degree and experience. Knowledge of collection management, the
publishing industry, electronic resource management, licensing and
copyright issues, digital rights management, digital preservation, and
discovery systems required.
