Universal Design is the idea of designing products, places, and experiences to make them accessible to as broad a spectrum of people as possible, without requiring special modifications or adaptations. This course will present an overview of universal design as a historical movement, as a philosophy, and as an applicable set of tools. Students will learn about the diversity of experiences and capabilities that people have, including disabilities (e.g. physical, learning, cognitive, resulting from age and/or accident), cultural backgrounds, and other abilities. The class will also give students the opportunity to redesign specific products or environments to make them more universally accessible and usable.

A solid background in the fundamentals of project management will increase the success of any project. This course presents the basics of the Project Managment Body of Knowledge (PMBOK) with practical experience to provide the individual with the tools to create a successful project plan. The course is structured as a lecture with hands on components throughout the class with an emphasis on the use of open source technology to manage the project. Class includes a basic introduction to both Trello and Asana.

This is a blended format web course. It will be delivered as separate live webinar lectures, one per week. You do not have to attend the live lectures in order to participate. The webinars will be recorded for later viewing.
