Position Summary
This position has primary responsibility for establishing and maintaining access to electronic resources Setting up and maintaining access to electronic resources, including working with knowledge bases, open URL resolvers, proxy configuration and Sierra maintenance is a major function of this position. The position is responsible for working closely with vendors and publishers to clarify the library's holdings and access rights. Another major purpose of this position is to assist the Electronic Resource Librarian in maintaining the resource management systems and gathering, loading, and maintaining statistics. Other duties may be assigned at the discretion of the supervisor.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Required for this Position
Knowledge of complex serial operations and procedures.
Knowledge of computer applications and database management for library procedures.
Knowledge of the serials publishing industry and emerging standards for electronic publishing.
Knowledge of MARC record format and other bibliographic information.
Knowledge of COUNTER compliant statistics standards.
Knowledge of SUSHI standards
Technical knowledge of automated systems.
Ability to work independently and prioritize work flow.
Ability to contribute to planning and coordinating department projects.
Ability to analyze unique situations and apply problem-solving skills to resolve issues.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, vendors, publishers, and library users.
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Ability to keep up with changing requirements through pursuit of professional development and training
Minimum Qualifications
Graduation from a four-year college or university and one year of experience in a library or archives and/or records management; or high school and five years' experience in a library or archives and/or records management; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with an integrated library system, preferably Innovative Interfaces.
Demonstrated work experience maintaining access to electronic resources such as electronic journals and/or databases
Demonstrated work experience gathering library-relevant numeric data
Demonstrated knowledge of information standards and practices relevant to electronic resources, including OpenURL linking, the COUNTER code of practice, and/or the SUSHI protocol.
Experience with Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel spreadsheets.
Ability to work independently and prioritize work flow.
Solid organizational skills, flexibility and initiative. Initiative and desire to learn in an innovative, evolving environment.
