-stay in the conference hotel if possible, it comes with free breakfast and also has a decent lunch buffet for fairly cheap (save your $$ for going out to dinner at night cuz the Austin food scene is awesome)
--and the parking lot is in the bottom of the building, parking in Austin BLOWS *technical terminology*

-go down to the conference area early and get the layout of the rooms down.  It's not a complicated set-up at the hotel conference area, but seating in some of the rooms goes fast and knowing where the closest restrooms are to each room helps beat out the slower attendees:)

-plan your sessions with at least one backup option: some fill up superfast, others don't quite match your expectations, etc.

-go to the extracurricular activities like the vendor fair, opening welcome party, etc.   lots of interesting conversations go on around the actual sessions

-dress ranges from super-casual to suits, but Austin is usually very mild to cool at this time of year (Texas winters RULE)

-unless the presenter says their handouts & slides ARE NOT on the flashdrive that they hand out to attendees, don't worry about picking up paper copies

-the atmosphere is relaxed, so enjoy:)
