[Eril-l] Astronomy & Astrophysics to remain Open Access in 2026 under Subscribe to Open

Dear colleagues

I wanted to share some positive news that may be of interest regarding Astronomy & Astrophysics (A&A).

Following sufficient support from the library community, A&A will remain fully open access in 2026 under Subscribe to Open, marking a fifth consecutive year of open access without reliance on APCs.

This is genuinely good news, although reaching this point was not entirely straightforward. The journal reached the required renewal threshold, but only by a relatively small margin, leaving A&A operating with increasingly narrow margins.

We are very grateful to the libraries that continue to support A&A. Their commitment allows the journal to remain immediately open while avoiding shifting the core cost of publication onto authors.
