[Eril-l] An update to Wiley COUNTER usage data: online books and eMRWs

Dear Colleagues,

We want to make sure you have the information you need about a recent update to Wiley's COUNTER usage data.

As part of our ongoing COUNTER 5.1 compliance maintenance work, we identified and corrected a double-counting issue affecting title-level usage reports for online books and eMRWs (not journals). Full book downloads were incorrectly being counted toward every individual chapter, which inflated title-level metrics. We caught this ourselves and have reprocessed the data for January-October 2025.

Here's what this means for you:


  *   You may see an average reduction of approximately 3.6% in title-level usage for online books and eMRWs. The exact change will vary based on your institution's usage patterns.
  *   The affected reports are TR, TR_B1, TR_B3, and PR_P1. We recommend re-running these for January-October 2025 to make sure your records are up to date.
  *   Item-level reports and journal usage are not affected.
  *   Corrected data is available now via SUSHI and the Wiley reporting portal. Your ERM vendor can help with back-harvesting if needed.

This is a correction for accuracy, and the updated figures give you a clearer, more reliable picture of how your users are engaging with Wiley monographic content.
