[Eril-l] Which vendors do something special with Ezproxy server address?

Hi, following up on my own post, I learned from someone on this list that companies using Cloudflare are likely to need that special proxy server handling.
With Gemini's help I ran a script to see which of our vendors/platforms use Cloudflare.
Every server on this list gave a Cloudflare server response to the script, but there were some that gave various errors, so there may well be others that are also Cloudflare, but these definitely are.

I can second Xiaotian's experience. We just moved from EZproxy local to hosted and had to update IP ranges with all of our providers in December. We're still chasing down a few strays.
Presses for universities and professional organizations can be especially problematic. They often outsource their journal hosting to 3rd party platforms and services.

Hi Mellisa,

I went through this in Nov 2024. Unless a publisher is listed at https://theipregistry.org/publishers/, I had to either log into their admin site to make the changes or message them. It was a tedious process. Examples, 1. Some vendors admin sites are not easy to use. Eg, EBSCO Admin takes IP address one by one and no longer takes ranges. I had to manually enter dozens of addresses. 2. Not all publishers/vendors have a working email or contact form posted.

Hi, all!
We're planning to change our Ezproxy server's IP address on Monday Jan 26 to a different address still within the same range as the rest of campus.

We are registered with theipregistry.org<http://theipregistry.org> and I will change it there, but not all of our vendors use that service.

Most vendors are happy with the proxy server being in the overall campus range and won't care that we change ezproxy's IP address in particular as long as it's within our campus range they already know.

So I am concerned about identifying which vendors meet both of these conditions:

  1.
they need to make some kind of internal adjustment when the proxy server itself changes IP address, AND
  2.
they will NOT get that information from theipregistry.org<http://theipregistry.org>

If any of you can identify those vendors, it would help us a lot, thank you!

PS. Vendors, please consider joining the IP Registry! It would have saved me a lot of stress right now if all of you were members!
