Hi Dana,
Here is the authentication information in our agreement:
Authorized Users first must access the Service through a link provided by
Dow Jones to the University. Authorized Users will then be required to
create an account, complete login credentials and accept the terms of the
applicable Service’s subscriber agreement and terms of use (the “Online
Subscriber Agreement”) prior to accessing the Service for the first time.
Thereafter, Authorized Users can access the Service directly or by going
through the link again as long as the Authorized Users are eligible.
I don't recall SSO being an option at that time, or I imagine I would have
taken it. This Wall Street Journal login creation process mirrored our
previous New York Times process, so it at least felt familiar. (I have a
LibGuide <https://libguides.reed.edu/c.php?g=998431&p=10434485> for the
instructions.)
Last year, NYT said they could offer SSO, and I moved us over. For them,
everyone accesses via SSO first and then they have the option to create a
personal login if they wish. Perhaps WSJ is similar?
Nothing in our agreement specifies dates, but, looking now, I see that our
News Archive link goes back to December 30, 1997. That link is buried down
in the footer menus. I'm attaching some screenshots to show what that looks
like for me.
Thanks,
Kyle
