**Apologies for cross posting**
Whether you missed last week’s virtual NISO Plus Global/Online meeting, or
attended and want to continue the conversation, our NISO Plus Baltimore
conference <https://niso.plus/niso-plus-2026-baltimore/> is happening on
February 16–18, 2026. And if you want to help us set the agenda, the call
for proposals <https://forms.gle/AMaLAXh57UazA7Ju5> is now open! It’s a
great opportunity to meet and collaborate with information professionals
across the community to address the most pressing issues in scholarly
communications.
Each session at NISO Plus Baltimore will include time dedicated to q&a and
discussion, and as with all NISO Plus conferences, ideas emerging from the
meeting will help to shape conversations about future NISO standards and
projects. Broad topics of interest include (but aren't limited to) the
following:
-
AI and emerging technologies
-
Archiving and preservation
-
Global issues
-
Metadata and persistent identifiers
-
Metrics
-
Multilingualism in scholarly communication
-
Open scholarship and open access
-
Identity, access, and privacy
-
Peer review
-
Research infrastructure
-
Research integrity and ethics
-
Sustainability
We encourage session proposals from professionals across the information
community—librarians, publishers, service and tech providers, researchers,
and others.
The most successful proposals will encourage interactivity and audience
participation. As part of our ongoing efforts to improve and support
diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility in the information
community (https://www.niso.org/what-we-do/DEIcommittee), we also strongly
encourage proposals that reflect a variety of perspectives—geographical,
organizational, functional, etc. (We therefore recommend that you include
either confirmed speakers or examples of who you might invite.)
The closing date for proposals is October 17, 2025, after which they will
be anonymized before being reviewed by the NISO Plus 2025–26 Planning
Committee. We will notify everyone submitting a proposal of the committee's
decision by the first week of November.
We look forward to hearing from you <https://forms.gle/5HqBW5KecfiipnV57>!
Your ideas help to ensure that our meeting represents the broadest range
possible of concerns and interests in the information community, laying the
groundwork for future NISO initiatives and areas of focus.
Best wishes,
The NISO Team
