OPEN TELECONFERENCE | FREE AND OPEN TO ALL
Open Access Business Processes (OABP)
<https://www.niso.org/events/october-20-2025-open-teleconference-open-access-business-processes-oabp>
Monday, October 20, 3:00–4:00 pm EDT (US/Canada)
The number of open access (OA) publications has grown dramatically in
recent years, but many systems and workflows were developed to support
traditional subscription models. In response to this challenge, the new
OABP Recommended Practice, now in draft, outlines a standardized framework
to support operational OA workflows across diverse publishing models. The
draft introduces a shared glossary to eliminate confusion over terminology,
clear metadata specifications to ensure information flows smoothly between
systems, and guidance on reporting, financial tracking, and agreement
management. Working Group members will join us to outline how the new
Recommended Practice will help stakeholders across the publishing ecosystem
work together more effectively.
Speakers: Cristin Hipke, Standards Program Manager, NISO, Meghana Hemphill,
Director, Research Authors Product Strategy and Operations, Wiley, and Maureen
Walsh, Scholarly Sharing Strategist, The Ohio State University.
Registration is not required for open teleconferences. See our event page
