Hi Flynn

Thia has been a long-standing problem for as long as I can remember, but it looks as though Clarivate may have fixed the problem in the latest version of EndNote
[cid:image001.png at 01DB6260.48B6E5D0]

We are still on EndNote 21.4 and have not yet been able to test whether this has solved the problem, but if you are able to upgrade to EndNote 21.5 maybe you can test and let us know.

Kind regards,
Vivien

Hello all, We are running into issues with Endnote and its ability to fetch the pdfs. So for example we have 16 Science direct references that Endnote is unable to fetch the pdfs. We tested it in our EndNote library. Download the attached .txt

Hello all,

We are running into issues with Endnote and its ability to fetch the pdfs. So for example we have 16 Science direct references that Endnote is unable to fetch the pdfs.

We tested it in our EndNote library.

  * Download the attached .txt file
  *   Open EndNote
  * Go to the File menu tab and select Import
  * Find the attached. txt file
  * For Import Option select: RefMan RIS
  *   Finally click Import

You will then have the 16 references in your library to then run the Find Full-Text command to test.

This is the OpenURL path is my EndNote settings: https://search.hsl.med.nyu.edu/openurl/01NYU_HS/01NYU_HS:HSL<https://urldefense.com/v3/__https://search.hsl.med.nyu.edu/openurl/01NYU_HS/01NYU_HS:HSL__;!!Lav448XFWxY!6QKMgVL-E2sUpuh6ccZGTxNKeqK-3VLh21yh80EIm_xe8BNZYHb2YUDfjZIMZqomJsq3l5tk5pWX4hkZiQyGi5NfiJ-t$>?

We tried this route and were unable to get to the fulltext pdfs. When we search for the articles libkey is able to find the pdfs but it looks like maybe there is something happening with Science direct? I'm not sure if there is a solution but I thought I would put it out there.

I looked at the links within ScienceDirect in my browser, and it doesn’t seem to match that of the openURL.

For example:

Which lead me to this subject guide:

https://wachslibrary.health.wa.gov.au/endnote/fulltext#:~:text=Note%20that%20'Find%20full%20text,will%20not%20work%20with%20EndNote.

Where they state:

Note that ‘Find full text’ will work well for many journals but will not work for some where full text access is in fact available.

Elsevier ScienceDirect and some other publishers have linking structures that will not work with EndNote. The pdf can be downloaded to the desktop and attached to the citation from there. If anyone has any thoughs I'm all hears.

Thanks for your help!

Take care,

Flynn
