Dear colleagues,

The American Society for Microbiology (ASM) is proud to announce that it will adopt a Subscribe to Open (S2O)<http://asmusa.informz.net/z/cjUucD9taT0zMDIwMDYzJnA9MSZ1PTUxODk0MDkzNiZsaT0zMzM0NDk4Mg/index.html> subscription model for its six primary research subscription-based journals in 2025. Those journals are:

  *   Antimicrobial Agents and Chemotherapy(r)<http://asmusa.informz.net/z/cjUucD9taT0zMDIwMDYzJnA9MSZ1PTUxODk0MDkzNiZsaT0zMzM0NDk4Mw/index.html>

With S2O, if enough institutions subscribe, the journal content for that year will be made Open Access. Current subscribers do not need to do anything new since Subscribe to Open utilizes existing library procurement processes. You can simply renew your subscription and your library will receive the following benefits:

  * ASM Early Commit Flat Renewal Pricing: There will be no price increase if a commitment to renew is made by the January 31st, 2025, S2O offer deadline.
  * Open Access Guarantee: Subscribing institutions will receive guaranteed Open Access publishing for articles from affiliated authors regardless of whether the threshold is met.
  * No APCs for the six S2O Journals: No Article Processing Charges (APCs) for authors publishing in the six primary research subscription-based journals for authors from subscribing institutions. For page charges, ASM provides our members<http://asmusa.informz.net/z/cjUucD9taT0zMDIwMDYzJnA9MSZ1PTUxODk0MDkzNiZsaT0zMzM0NDk5MA/index.html> with a 25% discount and authors from subscribing institutions with a 25% discount. Authors who are both ASM members and affiliated with subscribing institutions receive a total page charge discount of 50%.
  * Funder Compliance: Your decision to move forward with your subscription renewal to Subscribe to Open (S2O) will provide your authors with compliance to open access policies for 2025, including OSTP, which issues the guidance to make federally funded research freely available without delay.

Once the subscription target is met for a journal, that journal's content becomes open access. Please see our Subscribe to Open<http://asmusa.informz.net/z/cjUucD9taT0zMDIwMDYzJnA9MSZ1PTUxODk0MDkzNiZsaT0zMzM0NDk4Mg/index.html> page for more information.
