**Apologies for cross posting**

The IMLS-funded Collaborative Collections Lifecycle Project (CCLP)
<https://sites.google.com/view/cclifecycleproject/home> and its
associated Collaborative
Collections Lifecycle Infrastructure Project (CCLIP)
<https://niso.org/standards-committees/cclip> continue to build greater
community collaboration in smart collection management and promote access
to collections by improving institutional efficiency through partnership.
The CCLP seeks to overcome serious barriers to broader implementations of
cooperative collections management, including the lack of available
vendor-neutral interoperable systems, adequate governance and
decision-making frameworks, and assessment tools.

The CCLIP Recommended Practice, feeding CCLP efforts, will document
exchange protocols that describe gathering, normalizing, and exchanging
holdings information, contractual information, retention obligations, and
usage data. It will also describe the aggregation of library staff and
subject matter expertise, local and group-based insights, and the
publisher/marketplace information necessary to support collaborative
decisions at the local and cross-institutional levels. The Recommended
Practice will also explore assessment processes among partner institutions,
provide definitions, describe personas, and outline their related
workflows.

NISO is now seeking volunteers with diverse backgrounds and expertise,
including librarians, publishers, and vendors, for the first group in the
third and final cohort of CCLIP working groups—Consortia.

The Consortia working group is responsible for developing community-driven
guidance on consortial needs, best practices, and workflows related to the
cooperative collections lifecycle. This group aims to facilitate support
for identifying collaborative collections opportunities and shared
priorities across its libraries, focusing on prospective collections
building in an opt-in consortial model. Working regularly with the other
CCLIP working groups, the Consortia Working Group will examine CCLP user
stories that focus on the unique opportunities that consortia of different
types offer to collaborating institutions with respect to all areas of the
prospective collections lifecycle activities. It will pinpoint key
opportunities for libraries, publishers, and vendors operating within
consortial and interconsortial environments, particularly in scenarios
where collaborations are optional or opt-in.

This working group will meet virtually via Zoom twice a month for one-hour
meetings. In addition, volunteers can expect about 2–3 hours of offline
work collecting or creating reference materials, analyzing them through
discussion, and collaboratively drafting new outputs. See our website
for additional
details about the scope of the working group
<https://niso.org/standards-committees/cclip/scope>.
