*Description*

Planning and measuring for outcomes to learn the impact of library programs
and services isn’t new to the profession but it has quickly become an
important endeavor to help create stronger libraries that connect people to
information and ideas, support staffing models and staff training needs,
and demonstrate good stewardship of library resources to internal and
external stakeholders.



Over the course of two days, participants will use this e-mail-based forum
to discuss some of the ways they and/or their library are planning for
gathering outcome-based qualitative and quantitative data, how they are
executing their plans, how the data is analyzed, and how their findings are
communicated with internal and external stakeholders.



*Hosts*

Suanne Wymer currently manages the Youth Services Dept. for Tulsa
City-County Library [Oklahoma]. Her interest in outcomes-based planning and
evaluation took hold as a research librarian and while working in TCCL’s IT
Dept., and today is a focus for TCCL’s systemwide youth programming. It was
a natural progression to merge that interest with her research as PhD
candidate at the University of Oklahoma’s School of Library & Information
Studies and direct the emphasis of her dissertation research.



*What Is an e-Forum?*

A Core e-forum provides an opportunity for librarians to discuss matters of
interest, led by a moderator, through the e-forum discussion list. The
e-forum discussion list works like an email listserv: register your email
address with the list, and then you will receive messages and communicate
with other participants through an email discussion. Most e-forums last two
to three days. Registration is necessary to participate, but it's free.
