We lost access twice last week, once for several hours on Thursday and again Friday for a shorter period. Access was not available either on campus or remotely (via EZProxy or VPN) and clearing cookies did not help. During this time, our welcome banner was missing and content was paywalled. I was able to access content when logging in via my admin account, which suggests the issues are related to IP authentication. They sent an email a few months ago saying that they were switching their authentication to Auth0—perhaps the implementation is hitting snags. Statista did not respond to my ticket until the following day (when access was back) and the response included the same boilerplate quoted below.

We had an access issue with Statista reported late last week. Our access worked off-campus through our OpenAthens authentication. However, our, “Welcome, James Madison University!” banner was missing when accessed on campus/ VPN and not all content available.
Statista suggested the following:
1. Clear Cookies: Remove all cookies related to Statista in your browser and then retry accessing the platform.
1. Check Access: If clearing cookies does not resolve the issue, please visit the following link: https://www.statista.com/ipcheck Click to follow link.">https://www.statista.com/ipcheck
Once you open the link, please check if access is restored
This does work, but it’s a bit cumbersome to communicate these steps to every patron who encounters an issue.

Hi Everyone,
Clarification to the access. The issues start when users try to access content. We are able to use our proxied link to access our subscription but then users hit a paywall for all content. Still no word from Statista. But to test your access drill down to content.
Best,

At Swarthmore we had a librarian report that access was down (including a screenshot). By the time I tested it, access was working again. Good to know (I guess) that others are experiencing similar intermittent issues. I'll open a ticket with Statista as well.

Hello ERIL-L.
Looking to confirm if other Statista customers have been experiencing, and continue to experience, issues with access the past couple of weeks?
Up and down, up and down, up and down...
It's Saturday night where I am, the Leafs are losing, and I made the stupid mistake of checking work email after dinner and drinks.
Knock wood, five more years and I never have to look at another computer ever again.
If others could let me know, it would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.
