*Core e-Forum: Managing Serials: Filling the Gap with Publisher Agents*

Throughout the past several years, especially since the advent of COVID,
serial titles have been at the cross section of an increase in demand while
also experiencing an increase in cost. Additionally, many libraries have
experienced staffing shortages with budget pressures. These pressures have
resulted in libraries having to come up with creative solutions for
managing serial titles like smaller packages for electronic titles or
collaboratively working with publishing agents.



This e-Forum will explore how to effectively use publisher agents to fill
the gap with such uses as data analytics for collection assessments or
order changes. Additionally, it will explore other creative strategies
libraries are employing to meet the pressures faced.

versus the size of your library collection?

collection assessment?

·         Is there anything that you have requested that did not offer
support but rather caused more issues?

·         What are some other creative solutions that your library has
employed, for example, negotiating smaller packages for electronic titles,
etc.?



*Hosts*

Jess Huffman has served in Acquisitions at the University of Oklahoma since
2018, transitioning from graduate student to supervisor. She is passionate
about connecting patrons with the best resources and tools to aid them in
their academic pursuits.



Jaymie Turner has served as Head of Acquisitions since 2018. Prior to this,
she served as the Serials and Electronic Resources Librarian. She holds a
Master of Library and Information Studies from the University of Oklahoma
and a Bachelor of Arts in History.



*What Is an e-Forum?*

A Core e-forum provides an opportunity for librarians to discuss matters of
interest, led by a moderator, through the e-forum discussion list. The
e-forum discussion list works like an email listserv: register your email
