Metro State University has extended the application deadline for the Electronic Resources Librarian position until March 13, 2023.

Metro State University, a member of the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities System, is seeking to hire an Electronic Resources Librarian. This is a full-time, probationary, 9-month position within the Library and Information Services Department. This position begins in August with the academic year, but there is potential for up to 30 summer duty days of work beginning in May 2023.


Minimum Qualifications:



  *   ALA-accredited master’s degree in library and/or information science earned no later than May 15, 2023.
  *   Demonstrated potential for success in the position responsibilities and professional service activities.
  *   A plan for scholarly activity, creative achievement, and/or research in librarianship or related disciplines.
  *   Effective communication skills (written & verbal) to communicate with a variety of persons and groups.
  *   Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in an institution with a culturally, economically, and linguistically diverse workforce and student population.
  *   Demonstrated ability to work independently.
  *   Demonstrated ability and desire to work collegially with faculty and staff from diverse cultural backgrounds.
  *   Demonstrated aptitude for prioritizing and organizing complex tasks.
  *   Experience with library service platforms/electronic resources management systems as well as collection analysis and associated tools and methodologies.
  *   Experience with electronic resources lifecycle activities in an academic library.
  *   Knowledge of best practices for discoverability of library resources.
  *   Knowledge of open access and open education resources management in an academic library.


Preferred Qualifications:



  *   Knowledge of user experience methodologies for evaluating eresources and improving discovery.
  *   Knowledge of best practices for accessibility of eresources.
  *   Working knowledge of HTML, Cascading Style Sheets (CSS), Python, or other scripting languages.
  *   Experience using SUSHI and COUNTER.
  *   Experience configuring discovery services.
  *   Experience with access and authentication systems, e.g., EZProxy.
  *   Experience providing reference service or library instruction or serving as a liaison in an academic library.

  *   Interest in new and emerging technologies and their applications in academic libraries.
  *   Interest in open licensing, e.g. Creative Commons.
