We need your input!

What issues are you currently facing when negotiating for resources with
vendors?

What strategies are you employing when negotiating licensing agreements?

What challenges have you encountered and what opportunities do you see when
negotiating with library vendors??

The *ONEAL Project (Open Negotiation Education for Academic Libraries) *in
partnership with the *SPARC Negotiation Community of Practice* is hosting a
series of virtual discussion forums in September and October.

Negotiation Strategies & Tactics - Sept 21st @ 2pm EDT [Register
<https://iu.co1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_eloh8PWg6O6BvCe>]

Negotiating Licensing Terms - Oct 13th @ 2pm EDT [Register
<https://iu.co1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_bgfUiDIOUPC405w>]

Current Issues in Academic Libraries - Oct 20th @ 2pm EDT [Register
<https://iu.co1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_6tkxt2vCjwtZohg>]

The conversations we have during these forums will inform the ONEAL
Project, as we develop curriculum and OER (open education resources) to
support developing negotiation skills in academic libraries. Your
experiences will inform instruction design as project staff develop
resources and tools centered on academic library experiences.

The ONEAL Project is funded by an IMLS Laura Bush 21st Century Librarian
Program <https://imls.gov/grants/awarded/re-252353-ols-22> grant. To learn
more about the ONEAL Project visit: https://iupui.libguides.com/oneal

We welcome your questions at: macyk at iupui.edu

A Note on Conflicts of Interest:

The ONEAL Project will design community-informed negotiation education for
academic library workers to better engage with third party vendors.
Throughout the curriculum development process, feedback will be sought from
our colleagues in academic libraries and library science programs about
their experiences with vendors during negotiations. To foster a safe
environment, where attendees can candidly discuss issues and strategies, we
are asking attendees to describe the nature of any current service,
consulting, or advisory work with vendors when registering for events. With
the exception of project partners, we ask that employees from library
vendors refrain from registering for our community forums. We look forward
to hearing about the experiences of our colleagues who serve in capacities
that may create a conflict of interest in future projects.
