COUNTER Release 4 Retirement
Beginning on May 10, Oxford University Press will cease to provide COUNTER 4 usage reports, and will only offer COUNTER 5 reports going forward. Since January 2019, Oxford University Press (OUP) has offered COUNTER 5 usage reports in compliance with COUNTER guidelines.  As COUNTER’s latest standard, Release 5 is designed to deliver clearer, more flexible, and more consistent reporting.

OUP’s final COUNTER 4 reports will be supplied in mid-April, showing usage for the month of March, and will be available until May 10. After this date, COUNTER 4 usage reports will cease to be accessible through the usage portal and the SUSHI service.


Actions to take
If you would like to run COUNTER 4 usage reports for March 2022 or earlier, please do so before May 10, 2022. COUNTER 4 usage reports will not be available from OUP after this date.

SUSHI Users – If you are not already receiving COUNTER 5 usage reports via the SUSHI service, please re-register and update your SUSHI client to request COUNTER 5 usage reports. You can do this by following our SUSHI registration instructions<http://fdslive.oup.com/www.oup.com/academic/pdf/librarian/COUNTER_5_SUSHI_Setup_Instructions.pdf>. After May 10, it will only be possible to receive COUNTER 5 reports using the COUNTER 5 SUSHI service. If you are already registered for COUNTER 5 SUSHI service, you do not need to register again.
