Position available: Associate Director for Content and Discovery at Duke Medical Center Library

Duke University Medical Center Library & Archives is seeking applications for an innovative, collaborative, and knowledgeable librarian with a broad vision of collections and their role in scholarly communication in the health sciences. This leadership position administers all aspects of the Library's collections. The Associate Director for Content and Discovery is responsible for selecting, de-selecting, purchasing, licensing, and ensuring intuitive access to the Library's electronic and print collections. This position is a key member of the Library's planning and management groups.

As lead for the integrated Content and Discovery team, the Associate Director manages technical and access services for the Library and provides guidance and coaching for the 5-person unit. They also are primarily responsible for selecting, negotiating, and licensing the Library's electronic resources. They collaborate with other libraries at both Duke University and the Triangle Research Libraries Network to evaluate shared contracts, consortia deals, and transformative agreements. The Associate Director will work closely with library administration to allocate collection budgets effectively to meet the information needs of the School of Medicine, School of Nursing, and other Duke Health patrons.

The individual in this position joins a responsive, customer service-oriented 5-person department that provides patron support at the library service desk, e-resource troubleshooting, interlibrary loan, print circulation, and strong electronic collections for research, education, and patient care. SALARY AND BENEFITS
Salary for this position is competitive and based on experience and education. Reimbursement for relocation expenses is available.
