Hi Teresa,

I am not sure exactly if this is what you are asking but:

For course only streaming films (films that can only be shown in a class, with no access by the wider campus), we typically make them available only via e-reserves (we use the module from Springshare). Each e-reserve course page has a unique password (and students need to authenticate on top of that if off-campus) so that seems to work.

For backend management we use our Library Management System, where we can add details such as term of license etc.

We have a form on our website for film requests but that has not stopped the flow of emails. Some requests go to our Reserves who forwards them to us.

I hope this helps! Please let me know if you have any other questions.

Thanks,
Mike

Subject: [Eril-l] Management Application for Course Driven Streaming Film Programs

Greetings,

Our library has a long history of providing streaming films for course use. We have used ILLiad for both the webform and the backend management for many years. ILLiad has worked well, but for re-organizational reasons, we need to discontinue using it as our management application. We are currently exploring SpringShare's LibInsight product for the intake form and LibAnswers for the management queue. It is not as robust as ILLiad and we are struggling to figure out management of things such as show dates.

I am curious what others are using for managing course driven streaming film programs. Thanks so much for any ideas.

Teresa
