Position Description
Do you want to join an award-winning research and instruction team? The University of Mississippi Libraries is seeking a flexible, service-oriented team player who is dedicated to supporting teaching and research initiatives while fostering a diverse and inclusive environment at an R1 research institution. Qualified librarians are invited to apply for the Research & Instruction Librarian and Assistant Professor position at the University of Mississippi in Oxford. This is a full-time, tenure-track, 12-month faculty position reporting to the Head of Research & Instruction Services. The successful candidate will:

*    Serve as a liaison to the School of Journalism and the departments of Public Policy Leadership, Political Science, and Social Work. Liaisons work with faculty and students to effectively use library resources and services to support their research, instruction, and collection needs;
*    Collaborate with internal and external units to support student success goals of both the library and the university by leading and assessing information literacy classes, workshops, orientation activities, and first-year student instruction;
*    Provide in-person and on-line research support to a diverse community of students and researchers on the Oxford campus and regional campuses and create LibGuides, tutorials, and exhibits as needed;
*    Contribute to librarianship, research, and service at a level appropriate for a tenure-track faculty member of the university.

Salary: $48,000/year and includes the university's competitive benefits package

Minimum Qualifications
*    Master's degree in library science from an ALA accredited program by the date of hire
*    Familiarity with current and emerging trends in librarianship, specifically information literacy instruction and collection resources designed to support assigned liaison areas
*    Demonstrated ability to engage with a diverse community
*    Committed to pursuing professional development, research, and service at a level appropriate for promotion and tenure at the university
*    Excellent oral and written communication skills
