JOIN PROJECT MUSE IN ENVISIONING WHAT'S NEXT FOR SCHOLARLY COMMUNICATION

What are the urgent issues facing publishers and librarians? What threats and opportunities will shape the future of digital publishing in the humanities and social sciences? What areas call for better communication and shared understanding?

Project MUSE invites you to participate in an online conversation<https://projectmuse.ideascale.com/>, open now through January 31, to inspire the agenda of our MUSE Meets 2021: Envision What's Next virtual conference in April. Join others in the community to help imagine the future of digital scholarly communications in the humanities and social sciences.

We're using IdeaScale - an innovative virtual brainstorming platform - to facilitate the conversation and identify the most compelling ideas for our speakers, panels, and roundtables to discuss at the free virtual event. The platform allows participants to post new ideas, vote and comment on the suggestions of others, track which ideas generate consensus and enthusiasm, and connect with colleagues who share similar concerns and priorities. Anyone can join, so be part of the conversation now, get inspired, and help form our discussions in April!

JOIN THE CONVERSATION<https://projectmuse.ideascale.com/>

Participation in the conversation will be ongoing from now through January 31, so jump in, speak up, and check back often for the latest ideas and hottest topics. Help us create an event that will be compelling, constructive, and inspiring for all members of our digital scholarly publishing community. The IdeaScale conversation will close on January 31, to allow the MUSE team time to synthesize the themes and suggestions to continue the conversation at MUSE Meets 2021.

MUSE Meets 2021: Envision What's Next<https://about.muse.jhu.edu/about/publishers-meeting/> is an expanded and reimagined version of MUSE's annual publisher's meeting. It aims to take full advantage of the online format to broaden the participation of key stakeholders throughout the academic community and launch a more inclusive discussion of the digital future of scholarly communications. The virtual gathering will also serve to cap MUSE's 25th anniversary, which has been celebrated online this year after long-planned in-person events were cancelled.

In addition to the usual forums and information sessions designed for MUSE's participating publishers, the expanded conference in April will also include programming for librarians, scholars, and administrators, all free of charge. Most importantly, the reimagined format is designed to create new opportunities for the vast MUSE community to connect and interact, share ideas and concerns, and consider a future full of opportunities and challenges for digital scholarly communications. Every member of the academic community is welcome to participate.

The final agenda, along with details on how to register for the free virtual event, will be available in March 2021. MUSE Meets 2021 kicks off on Tuesday, April 27, with a Conference Welcome & Project MUSE 25th Anniversary Celebration, featuring keynote speaker Kathleen Fitzpatrick, Director of Digital Humanities and Professor of English, Michigan State University, and other special guests to be announced. Please watch the conference information page<https://about.muse.jhu.edu/about/publishers-meeting/> for more details as they become available.
