[Eril-l] E-resource Usage Drop?

Forgive me if this is not accurate, but I thought I heard or read that we should expect usage numbers to be lower because so many publishers opened up their content in response to the pandemic and, though our users may have taken great advantage, usage of this open content does not show up in our individual institutional usage reports.
Also, as others have said, I think the move from COUNTER 4 to COUNTER 5 also caused numbers to be lower.

We haven’t started collecting our 2020 resource usage statistics yet, but my colleague did look at the stats for usage of the library website and the discovery layer in December, and usage of those resources was down. She said they were way down. Which was unexpected because, well, pandemic should have forced everyone to electronic, right?
I am anxious about what we will find when we get to the resource usage numbers. I hope we will see a shift to ebooks and streaming video that I sense is out there. But what will the numbers show?

As I gather data for usage of e-resources for our ACRL survey, I’m wondering if others are seeing a drop in usage numbers? I expected usage to be the same or more but I’m seeing a dramatic drop in our numbers.
Thanks
Mark
