[Eril-l] E-resource Usage Drop?

I have seen numbers drop too, but isn’t part of it that COUNTER5 reports lower numbers than COUNTER4? Then also, I think expectations were lowered across the board for coursework during the pandemic, and prior to that a lot of people were distracted by politics, so there may have been fewer readings and research papers assigned to students. I haven’t finished collecting ACRL stats, but I suspect multimedia and ebook usage must have gone up. Since March of 2020 we’ve been purchasing a lot more video streaming and ebooks, I hope the usage numbers bear that out over time.

We are probably all in the same boat or similar, so I wouldn’t stress too much about it. Maybe a little explanation somewhere in the report that is a mild elaboration of “Because pandemic and politics.” ACRL will hopefully understand this has been a weird time and will of course cause major fluctuations in reporting on all fronts.

As I gather data for usage of e-resources for our ACRL survey, I’m wondering if others are seeing a drop in usage numbers? I expected usage to be the same or more but I’m seeing a dramatic drop in our numbers.

Thanks
Mark
