Discovery Services Librarian Position Available at Moody Medical Library – UTMB Galveston, TX

The University of Texas Medical Branch has an exciting and engaging professional opportunity for a Discovery Services & Reference Librarian (full-time, 40-hour/week/12months). We are looking for a collaborative, friendly colleague to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the Library’s online presence and providing proactive customer-oriented services to assigned liaison departments and the general UTMB community.

Primary Responsibilities:

  *   Sustains online presence and services, including management of the discovery interface and web site.
  *   Collaborates with Technical Services staff to ensure ongoing access to electronic resources.
  *   Maintains the hosted online digital repository for electronic theses & dissertations, historical collections, and other university publications.
  *   Serves as a liaison to assigned departments as the primary contact and communication link for library and information-related activities.
  *   Assists Library clients either in person, by phone, email, interactive chat, or web conferencing with locating and using discovery tools, databases, other online sources of information, and citation management.
  *   Stays abreast of, and assists in disseminating, developments in search tools/interfaces, data management, scholarly publishing, and copyright, as applicable to the UTMB audience.
  *   Establishes and maintains good working relationships and a professional environment.
  *   Represents the Library within the UTMB community and with other librarians.
  *   Maintains expertise by participating in relevant conferences, committees, workshops, and seminars.

Required Qualifications:

  *   Master’s degree in library science from an American Library Association-accredited library school.
  *   1-3 years of related experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  *   Coursework or experience with web publishing, content management best practices/standards, accessibility, and metadata standards.
  *   Proficiency with Windows and Microsoft Office products.
  *   Familiarity with SpringShare products (ex. LibGuides and LibAnswers), ExLibris Alma and Primo, DSpace, Sitefinity CMS.
  *   Excellent communication, organizational, and time management skills.
  *   Strong commitment to superior customer service.
  *   Demonstrated knowledge of current trends in Library technology and services.
  *   Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively, prioritize and manage tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, professional environment.

Salary: Starting at $68,000 and commensurate with experience
