ALCTS e-Forum: E-Resource Management: Tools, Tips, and Tricks of the Trade

June 16-17, 2020

Moderated by Rebecca Walton and Derrik Hiatt

Please join us for an e-forum discussion. It’s free and open to everyone!

Registration information is at the end of the message.

Each day, discussion begins and ends at:

Pacific: 7 a.m. – 3 p.m.

Mountain: 8 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Central: 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Eastern: 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.

Tracking, maintaining, and assessing e-resources can seem overwhelming at
times. Join colleagues from around the country in the ALCTS e-Forum to
share the essential tools that you use to organize all of the metadata
associated with your e-resources, and learn the tips and tricks of the
trade that others have developed to assist in the processes relating to
electronic resources in libraries.

Moderators

Rebecca Walton has been managing electronic resources at Brigham Young
University since 2006. In that time she has had the titles Electronic
Resources Assistant (part time staff), Electronic Resources Specialist
(full time staff), Electronic Resources Librarian (full time faculty), and
now Continuations, Licensing, and Collection Analysis Librarian (full time
faculty and unit head of the Continuations unit – our library’s term for
the unit overseeing both serials and databases).

Derrik Hiatt is Director of Resource Management & Discovery at the Mary and
Jeff Bell Library, Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi. In addition to his
MLS from Southern Connecticut State University, he has a Bachelor of Arts
in Music from Brigham Young University. Prior to moving to Corpus Christi,
Derrik worked as Electronic Resources Librarian at Wake Forest University
and Assistant Serials Librarian at Brigham Young University. He was a
co-author of the “Continuities” column in Technicalities from 2013-2016.

What Is an e-Forum?

An ALCTS e-forum provides an opportunity for librarians to discuss matters
of interest, led by a moderator, through the e-forum discussion list. The
e-forum discussion list works like an email listserv: register your email
address with the list, and then you will receive messages and communicate
with other participants through an email discussion. Most e-forums last two
to three days. Registration is necessary to participate, but it's free.

For information about upcoming e-forums, please visit

How to Register

You must register your email address to subscribe to or access an
electronic discussion list on ALA's Mailing List Service. Once you have
registered for one e-forum, you do not need to register again, unless you
choose to leave the list. Find instructions for subscribing and
unsubscribing online. (
