[Eril-l] Unconventional ERM products or solutions?

Hi Heather,
First of all, and I should have said it yesterday is that we are one of the libraries that have been helping out with the development of ROAM.
But even so we are quite happy with the result and I'm willing to share our experience.

We did the implementation during last summer/autumn and at this stage there are still some minor thing we are not using yet (still working on the settings for the workflow as an example).
We have used Verde from Ex Libris for several years, combined with excel, OneNotes etc. Verde is (in my opinion) built for large libraries with lot of staffs and have a too complicated workflow at least for us.
More or less we have only used Verde to store user id and passwords for admin pages and the licenses and the terms for these.

ROAM is helping us from start and trough out the life cycle of the product. Last autumn for example was the first time we easily could get a list of all subscriptions that was up for renewal. Earlier we have had a hunch but always waited for the publisher to contact us now it was the other way around and we were much more in control and pro-active.
It is very easy to see what you have paid over the years either on product level or for a specific product type.

Next step for us is to start working with the evaluation part of the system (evaluation of all products) but I have to get back to you on this.
Next step in the development of the system is to have all the usage statistics included, not there yet but will be.

Please feel free to contact me on/off list if you have any further questions.

Kind regards
/Charlotte

Hi Charlotte,

Thank you for responding. We had looked at ROAM ERM for a hot minute, but I was reluctant and crossed it off of our list because it's so new (less than year old I think). I was very intrigued by it though and want to keep my eye on it.

Would you be willing to share how your library is using it and what you like about it? Did you migrate to ROAM from another product? Feel free to reach out to me off the listserv if preferred, though I'm sure others are interested in your experience.

Cheers,

Hi,
Not an unconventional product but just wanted to send a tip about a rather new product on the market, called ROAM which we so far are very happy to use.

Hello,

I'm new to the ERIL list and happy to see some good discussion. I oversee IT and collections for a 100% virtual library at a large university, and we're currently evaluating ERM platforms, including CORAL and FOLIO. ERM systems (and LMS') have way more functionality than we need as we don't have a physical collection and no circulation or ILL needs. For that reason, it's difficult to justify the cost. Up until now, we've been doing this work through a patchwork of systems (EBSCO holdings management, O365 apps, etc). We recently built a Sharepoint site with Flow automation to better manage our renewals and vendors; while it's working pretty well, we're missing integration with our holdings knowledgebase and usage stats features like SUSHI integration.

For others without a dedicated ERM or LMS library system, what solutions are you using to effectively manage your electronic resources? Are there any unconventional products we haven't considered?

TIA!
