The position is open to students enrolled at least half-time in a certificate, degree, or diploma program at a qualifying educational institution.  The position is open to: US citizens and nationals and permanent residents and foreign nationals who meet immigration law and appropriations law requirements concerning employment.

This is a time-limited, excepted service position expected to last more than 1 year. The position's end date is based on when the intern obtains his/her degree (diploma, certificate, etc.), but cannot exceed 8 years in total, when the student intern remains eligible for the program.

Major Duties:

  *   Advising users about security and data file access restrictions.
  *   Providing troubleshooting of desktop/laptop systems.
  *   Deploying new hardware and software.
  *   Installing software, updating systems, and providing operational assistance to users.
  *   Assisting in the maintenance of computer related systems.

This is a GS-5 position; travel is not required.
