Scholarly Communications Librarian
Florida Institute of Technology

Florida Institute of Technology invites applications from enthusiastic, proactive, and service-oriented candidates for the new position of Scholarly Communications Librarian. This position will serve as a leader and advocate in the Library and across the institution on all issues related to the dissemination, preservation, and use of the scholarly and creative output of Florida Tech's faculty, researchers, staff and students. Under the direction of the Assistant Dean, Access and Discovery, the Scholarly Communications Librarian will work collaboratively to expand and manage the Library's scholarly communication services and to educate the Florida Tech community on all matters pertaining to scholarly communications.
Responsibilities

  *   Develop, implement, and manage scholarly communication services to expand the Library's support of the creation and dissemination of Florida Tech's scholarly output.
  *   Through education, promotion, and outreach increase the knowledge of the Florida Tech community regarding scholarly communication topics such as digital publishing, open access, open educational resources, copyright, intellectual property rights, scholarly identity and research impact.
  *   Devise strategies for promoting and growing the content and use of the campus institutional repository.
  *   Manage the Library's Open Access Subvention Fund and explore other methods for funding open access and open educational resources publishing.
  *   Develop and manage activities to promote Open Access Week, Fair Use Week, and other outreach opportunities.
  *   Monitor national scholarly communication trends, policy issues, and best practices and keep the Florida Tech community informed.
  *   Serve as a liaison to one or more university departments and participate on Library and University committees.
Required Qualifications

  *   ALA-accredited master's degree.
  *   Two years (or more) of experience in an academic library in a role related to scholarly communications, with evidence of a strong service orientation.
  *   Demonstrated knowledge of the current scholarly communications environment, including best practices, issues, trends, and new and emerging technologies.
  *   Demonstrated knowledge of the research process, the life cycle of publishing, the variations in publication and communication patterns within various scholarly disciplines, the indicators of research impact, and the library's role in supporting the entire scholarly publishing process.
  *   Experience communicating and conducting outreach about scholarly communication to a variety of stakeholders.
  *   Knowledge of copyright, author's rights, Open Access levels, Creative Commons licensing, embargoes, and similar issues as they relate to the creation and dissemination of scholarship.
  *   Strong interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to establish positive and productive collaborations with diverse constituencies of faculty, researchers, students and librarians.
  *   Demonstrated planning and leadership skills with the ability to take initiative, set goals and priorities, and work both independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment.
  *   Excellent oral and written communication skills, including creating and delivering presentations.
Preferred Qualifications

  *   Experience using institutional repository applications, such as DSpace.
  *   Basic understanding of data curation and data management services.
  *   Knowledge of open access publishing tools and platforms.
  *   Experience with faculty profile and activity reporting programs.
