ALCTS webinar: Anatomy of a Research Project

Description: This webinar will provide an overview of the research process,
focusing on research in technical services areas. Attendees will learn
about each part of a typical research project, including finding ideas for
research, articulating research questions, choosing an appropriate research
methodology, performing data collection, analyzing data, and writing
research results for publication. Resources that can help during the
research process also will be discussed.
Learning outcomes:
1. To understand the research process and how to start a research project.
2. To understand the parts of a research project and how they work together.
3. To identify various resources that can support research efforts.
Who should attend?
This webinar is recommended for anyone interested in conducting a research
study, but has limited or no experience doing so.
Presenter:
Karen Snow is an Associate Professor and the Ph.D. Program Director in the
School of Information Studies at Dominican University in River Forest, IL.
She teaches in-person and online in the areas of cataloging,
classification, and metadata. Her main areas of research interest are
cataloging quality, ethics, and education. In 2016, she received the
Follett Corporation’s Excellence in Teaching Award.
