ALCTS webinar: Writing and Publishing Research Results

Date: Wednesday, March 20, 2019

All webinars are one hour in length and begin at 11 AM Pacific, noon
Mountain, 1 PM Central, and 2 PM Eastern time.

This is part 3 of the five-part series Research and Publication
Basics. See this
webpage
<http://www.ala.org/alcts/confevents/upcoming/webinar/researchbasics> for
more information about the webinars in this series.

Description: This webinar will address the process of describing one’s
research, detailing the methodology, comparison of one’s research through a
literature review (Has there been similar research on the topic? Does it
support your research? If your topic is very new, what are your
observations in light of the existing literature?), summarizing the
results, and writing an effective conclusion to one’s research paper.

Learning outcomes:

As a result of this webinar, participants will be able to:

   -

   describe the elements of a research paper;
   -

   understand how to structure research and analysis into a research paper;
   -

   choose a journal appropriate for a specific research project; and
   -

   navigate the peer review process, including acceptance of one’s paper
   and final preparation for publication, and handling rejection of one’s
   paper and the next steps to take.
