The National Agricultural Library has an open job opportunity for a Technical Information Specialist in the Information Products Division.  The position is located in the Information and Customer Services Branch.  The job opportunity is open from Tuesday, November 13 through Wednesday, November 28, 2018. We are seeking an individual with experience in: planning, implementing, and evaluating programs and operations related to food safety; reviewing projects and studies; analyzing research and literature for trends in specific topical areas within food safety; and managing reference services for food and nutrition programs utilizing online reference systems.

Major duties include but are not limited to:
*         Assisting the Leader and team leaders in developing the library's collection in the specialized fields relating to food safety.
*         Maintaining knowledge of current and projected developments in food safety information and the information sciences.
*         Collecting, organizing, and making available scientific research and technical information on the program.
*         Analyzing research and literature for trends in specific topical areas within food safety, in order to enhance existing online products, and envision new products and services.
*         Developing backgrounders and informational and guidance documents for a variety of food safety research topics (e.g., FSMA, Chemical Contaminants, Biotechnology, Antimicrobial Resistance, Food Allergens, Produce Safety).
*         Accessing scientific database tools to compile food safety research.

Occasional travel is expected.
