I’d like to believe in fairy dust and silver bullets when it comes to this stuff, and I’d seriously love to be proven wrong, but to my knowledge, there is no single solution to this issue. Because of that, locally, we still rely heavily upon the ye olde manual approach. (Very sad, but very true.) I had/have high hopes for improvements in our ERM, CORAL, and think it handles SUSHI fairly well, but it’s not where it needs to be for many reasons. And then, too, I think that SUSHI implementation is still too painful in some cases. Also, before anyone suggests it, vendor-provided usage data consolidation tools are not the panacea they may claim to be, either.
The two factor authentication thing on the part of many vendors really needs to be pushed back on (my view). Especially when in effect, it requires you (or at least assumes) to use your personal cellphone to receive a text. I thought this wasn’t really that big of a deal at first, until the time when I received a call on my cellphone from the UK from a content provider following up on a question posed to them via email and my personal cellphone is NOT the official telephone contact number on file. The only way I could make sense of how someone got my personal cellphone number was because I’d used it to access their statistics via two-factor authentication.
