I forwarded this message string to George Machovec, Executive Director of the Colorado Alliance of Research Libraries (of which the University of Wyoming is a member). The Alliance has a collection assessment tool, Gold Rush, and EBSCO has provided them with information about MLA International Bibliography and MLA International Bibliography with Full Text, so comparisons between these products and other databases can be generated. If you would like to have a comparison run, free of charge, you can contact George directly at george at coalliance.org.

Something to remember with MLA is that chapters of monographs are also indexed. Which causes us further problems with linking between MLA and Discovery.

There is a list of indexed journals here: https://www.mla.org/Publications/MLA-International-Bibliography/Frequently-Asked-Questions, under "How many journals are covered in the bibliography?"

If you can actually get a "clean" list of what's indexed in MLA, e.g. with reliable ISSNs and starting/ending coverage dates, I would very much like to have a copy. Years ago I wanted to do what you're asking for, but was stymied by the lack of a usable title list for MLA, and the journal titles themselves are far too variable in formatting/abbreviation/subtitles/etc to be usable for doing systematic overlap comparisons.

Hello collective wisdom!

Before I go reinventing the wheel, I'm curious if anyone has run a comparison of the titles indexed in MLA International Bibliography with any other resources (JSTOR, other EBSCOhost databases, etc.). If so, would you be willing to share?

Thanks!
Josh
