We do much the same, but we also question the faculty and department about some of these specialized resources to gauge expected usage and what assignments will be using these resources.  If possible we try to get a copy of the assignment and in some cases make a libguide based on the assignment which our chat and desk staff can use to help students who need support.  Our business librarian has been very successful in getting buy in from her faculty and they point out her libguides in class and on the syllabus so the students know they have resources available.

Hi Yolande,   We list resources that are not available via IP in our A to Z databases list, and in the description we note brief special access instructions.   When longer instructions are necessary, we have them on a LibGuide that we can link to:   http://libguides.dickinson.edu/specialaccess.  This also is easy to pass on as a link when we get a related reference question.

We use our typical means of communication/marketing to get the word out to our community.  Some of the databases are primarily for specific department/audiences, so we try to make sure the faculty know and share with their students, and also liaisons will mention these in classes and consultations.

Good afternoon,

What options to do you use to make eresources available when they are only accessible via username and password?  Do you catalog these items?  Our Business library has a growing number of very specialized databases that are not available via IP address.  How are other libraries dealing with similar issues of discoverability?  Thanks.
