Position Title: Acquisitions Librarian

Position Summary:
Franklin University has a full-time position available as an Acquisitions Librarian. This position is responsible for managing acquisitions of all library information resources and maintenance of the library budget. In addition, the role serves as the primary support person for electronic resource access, troubleshooting, and maintenance. The Acquisitions Librarian serves as administrator for selection, vendor, and library discovery tools, and edits parts of the library website. As an involved library team member, this individual will work designated reference desk hours, conduct research for assigned staff/faculty projects, be the library liaison for assigned programs, create and conduct library training, participate on university committees as assigned and engage in professional development opportunities.

Required Qualifications:

-          MLS/MLIS from an ALA accredited institution

-          2 years academic library experience in selecting, acquiring, and setting up access for library information resources, including databases, books, eBooks and/or serials

-          Experience negotiating and processing license agreements, managing operations, solving complex problems, and have the ability to develop resourceful solutions

-           Must demonstrate sound communication skills and the ability to interact with diverse teams at all levels of staff and management, and effectively articulates abstract ideas; s/he must work well in a complex, multi-tasking environment.

-          Must have proficiency in web-based proprietary databases (e.g. Ebsco, LexisNexis, Factiva, Safari) and other electronic and print library resources

-          Must be self-directed, flexible, analytical, and results oriented.

-          Familiarity with a serials database such as EBSCO Publication Finder, OCLC and integrated library systems.
