This Sunday morning at ALA, at 8:30 in OCCC, Room W102B, join the ALCTS CRS College and Research Libraries Interest Group for a meeting to discuss Open Access (OA) discovery and metadata workflows. This session should help serialsts, catalogers, and electronic resources staff to understand the challenges facing them as librarians, relevant standards, and the publisher's view of OA discovery. You'll hear from the following:

Nettie Lagace, Associate Director for Programs at the National Information Standards Organization (NISO) will speak about the Access and License Indicators (ALI) NISO Recommended Practice. ALI offers a way for publishers, repository managers, and other content providers to share article-level access and use information with discovery vendors.

Elise Sassone, Manager, Discovery & Discovery Services at Springer Nature will provide a publisher's view of discovery of OA content. Readers may get to OA content through a number of different channels, and the library's tools are only one of those avenues.

Nate Hosburgh, Discovery and Systems Librarian at Rollins College will speak about the issues that discovery and electronic resource librarians face with fully OA and hybrid resources, including incomplete metadata, and the difficulty of integrating these into link resolvers and catalogs.

The meeting is presented by incoming chair Ana Noriega (Colby College) and current chair Chris Bulock (California State University Northridge).
