Sponsored by Bowker, CrossRef, and Sage

The user experience with ebooks encompasses far more than just an interface
or an application, and influences patron attitudes towards more than a
device or an author—it influences attitudes towards the library itself. At
the tenth annual Changing Standards Landscape event, we'll examine the full
spectrum of the user experience, including patron attitudes toward digital
borrowing and reading; privacy and security of patron data; and the
increasingly important area of digital-book accessibility standards and
best practices.

Confirmed speakers include *Todd Carpenter*, Executive Director, NISO; *Mark
Kuyper*, Executive Director, BISG; *Daniel Ayala*, Proquest; *Michael C.
Robinson*, University of Alaska-Anchorage; *Nettie Lagace*, NISO; *Theresa
Hunt*, Elsevier; *Becky Brasington Clark*, Library of Congress; and *Lettie
Conrad*, Sage

The National Information Standard Organization (NISO) Altmetrics Initiative
is now in its final stages with several community-crafted documents nearly
at publication stage. This session will discuss the creation of
recommended practices intended to support further uptake of so-called
“alternative” metrics and measurements for electronic publications:
definitions and use cases describing altmetrics in general, recommendations
for the use of data metrics, tools for supporting persistent identifiers,
and a Code of Conduct for data providers. Panelists have been participants
in the working groups and will detail perspectives and considerations that
have provided input for the published documents, which are NISO Recommended
Practices intended for consumption and use across the industry by any user
or entity wishing to further explore and exploit the area of alternative
assessment metrics.

Speakers: *Todd Carpenter*, Executive Director, NISO and *Nettie Lagace*,
Associate Director, Programs, NISO
